Globally, Project Management, has become the fastest growing approach of managing new initiatives in both Public and Private sector. Projects and the effective management thereof form the basis of any growing economy.

Developing countries including Tanzania need the effective management of projects to effectively deliver development agenda that will impact people’s lives. Project management is widely addressed as the “cornerstone of organizational success” and the “number one career choice”. This is because it provides the capacity to deal effectively with rapid, radical change resulting from fierce international competition and advancements in technology. It is also true that Project managers are generalists that are exposed to all aspects of the organization. This exposure also prepares them for positions as General Managers and other potential positions in both Public and Private organizations. All these facts, and many more will be part of our Master’s degree in Project Management.

Course Objectives

The purpose of this program is to provide critical, relevant, high-level project management knowledge
for the practicing professionals interested in pursuing their career in the field of project management. While the programme teaches the applied fundamentals of project management in its simplest form, of more importance is learning to integrate projects with a organization’s strategic intent. Apart from managing project management constraints, another strong focus of MPM is on the Leadership, Public Private Partnership, Agile, and the legal aspects of project management. The program provides a comprehensive approach of managing a project from the idea stage, to feasibility study, proposal writing and managing the whole project lifecycle. Through Case study discussion, workshops and real world examples, participants will learn how to identify project components, organize them effectively and control the project from the earliest steps of developing the project charter through the final steps of a project-documenting lessons learned and delivering the final product to the client.

OVERALL COURSE STRUCTURE

The whole programme has a total of Twelve (12) modules that will be covered in one academic year. Eleven (11) modules will be covered in 34 weeks of study out of these weeks, fifteen (15) weeks in each semester are set aside for study and two weeks for semester examinations. One (1) module for a Research Project will be covered in twelve (12) weeks. Modules to be covered include:

Learning Model

The Programme is offered as a full-time evening program, modular block basis over one year. Student/lecturer contact is crucial. In view of that, candidates are expected to attend physically during block weeks. The Programme is structured around four study blocks and research methodology will be the first module and students will be working on the project from the beginning of the semester.

All students must be able to take part in group discussions, presentations, projects and lecturers will facilitate these activities throughout each academic cycle. It is expected of participants to attend the contact sessions fully prepared. Assignments are done before, during and after the class contact sessions. Group interaction is emphasized as an integral part of learning and personal development. A balance between theory and practice, individual and group activity, class contact and distance support, is strived at. A personal development Programme is integrated into the academic activities.

Assessment
The course will cover:

and written examinations.
Students are allowed, and indeed encouraged to use challenging areas in their work environment as subject material for assignments. A symposium where students present their research concludes the MPM.

Qualifications Awarded

Upon successfully completion of the Master’s program you will be awarded a Master’s degree in Project Management.

Admission and Selection

Admission is competitive and a selection committee carefully screens applicants. Selection procedures may include a personal interview. Applicants is obliged to submit his/her project idea that will be supported by the master’s program modules and research while the final dissertation will represent actualization of the project idea.

It is the program interest that the dissertation will bring a product that will add value to the applicant career and create other business opportunities.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The master degree in Project Management will be open to all

(a) Candidates possessing the first degree, Advanced Diploma or Postgraduate Diploma with at least lower second class from an accredited institution.

(b) Candidates possessing the first degree, Advanced Diploma or Postgraduate Diploma with a pass class should have at least three years’ experience of working in Project management and any other allied fields.

The medium of instruction is English.

A TOEFL or IELTS test may be required for a foreign candidates who have not studied the prerequisite degree through the English Medium.

Program fees and Terms of Payment

Program fees shall be Six Million (6,375,000) to be paid in full or as per payment plan to be filled by the applicant.
